New Diet!

So a few days ago I was visited by my dear friend Annarose Foley, who is 40 pounds lighter and looks fabulous. Upon speaking with her- I found out that she simply started counting her calories in a sort of mathematical game. Using the app My Fitness Pal, she figured out how many calories she needed to eat a day to lose her goal weight. (There are all sorts of factors that go into the determination of how many calories you should be eating a day.) I decided after SEEING her and listening to her talk about it that this new "diet" I've named the FOLEY Diet is worth a try. I registered for My Fitness Pal and started a new lifestyle.

My number of calories is personally 1200. Now when you think about it---that's like nothing... Seriously... 1 fast food burger is like 1000 calories.. so HOW could I do this? I just made a decision- sort of like a light bulb went off in my head and I decided that my goal is to lose 50 pounds in 6 months to a year and be wearing a nice bathing suit by this summer and by darn I WILL do it! I am feeling so good about this! I have done weight watchers so many times that you can all know for sure- that I could give you every possible way to cheat on that diet. The last time I signed up for Weight Watchers was right after giving birth to Violet and I did it for one week and didn't drop a pound... that's how I knew that Weight Watchers would never work for me again and I needed to try something different. Thus---Foley Diet was born- Chris decided that he wanted to do it too- (which we all know is kinda stupid because he's a marathon runner and totally thin), but he wants to be supportive and I can't knock him for that.

So I've been on this diet for 3 days and I have to tell you- I'm feeling GREAT. I really feel empowered just having to focus on ONE thing... calorie intake. I don't have to worry about fat grams, sugar, fiber, and POINTS.... like some diets. All I have to worry about is how many calories I eat a day. I've figured out that my body's secret is I really need to focus on protein grams to sustain me. Chris worries more about fiber because he claims fiber fills him up more, but protein is what does it for me. Speaking of protein... Has anyone out there heard of the KIND bars? They are amazing and the one I ate today had 10 grams of protein in it! It didn't taste like vitamins.. has lots of vitamins and nutrients... and holds me off all afternoon as a snack between lunch and dinner. You can find them in the health food aisles at grocery stores. Giant has a great selection of them.

I'll keep you all updated on the craziness of this diet while taking care of my girls. I will say I was at the mall today and Lily was BEGGING me for Chick Fil A chicken nuggets and french fries---I just couldn't bring myself to walk over to the Chick Fil A and get them because I was so scared I would nibble at them myself. I kept stalling and feeding her boxes of raisins instead... she was fine with it, but it looks like this isn't only a personal healthy choice- but a FAMILY healthy choice.

Remember.... AT LEAST IT ISN"T YOU...(seriously... for all of you out there eating McDonalds tonight.. I so hate you!!)

Amanda
